The Mothers’ Residency Department (MRD) is a one-of-a-kind service offered at the Caritas Baby Hospital, allowing mothers to be involved in their children’s treatment process.
Not only this experience has a positive impact on the wellbeing of children and their recovery, it also offers mothers the opportunity to receive awareness-raising sessions on their children’s nutrition, hygiene and other health concerns. Such sessions are carried out by the CBH team or external experts.
Mothers are also offered psychological support by a professional team of social workers, and have the opportunity to interact with other mothers to share their stories and exchange experiences, thus, strengthening their role within the family and responding to their social and psychological needs.
MRD is run by nine female staff members with multidisciplinary backgrounds including nursing, education and social work. The facility consists of nine rooms with a capacity to accommodate 62 mothers, and also features a multi-purpose room.
