Caritas Baby Hospital is the only healthcare provider in Palestine to offer the video fluoroscopy swallow study as part of its feeding and swallowing clinic. This test helps diagnose and treat children facing difficulties with feeding and/or swallowing, which are usually associated with premature birth, neurological disorders, and pulmonary and/or heart conditions.
The procedure is performed by the medical speech-language pathologist and the radiologist and provides a “moving x-ray” of a child’s swallowing process. The test helps identify risks of aspiration and propose recommendations for treatment.
