Rotary Club Donates to COVID-19 Lab in CBH

In the presence of Governor of Bethlehem, Major General Kamel Hamid, His Excellency Mayor of Bethlehem, Mr. Anton Salman, Commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces, Colonel Nader Omar, as well as Director of Bethlehem Health Directorate, Dr. Shadi Al Lahham, and many other local and national figures, chairs and members of the Rotary Clubs in Palestine, headed by Assistant Governor of the Region, Eng. Wijdan Al Sharif, handed over an automated nucleic acid extraction system and a set of testing kits in support of the COVID-19 laboratory efforts at Caritas Baby Hospital (CBH).

In her speech, Mrs. Maggie Murad, president of the Rotary Club of Bethlehem, confirmed that this device is part of an aid plan aimed at supporting the Palestinian healthcare sector in facing the Coronavirus pandemic in East Jerusalem, Qalqilya, Tulkarm and Bethlehem.

Issa Bandak, CEO of CBH, praised the strategic partnership between the hospital and the local and international Rotary Clubs, as this relationship has yielded a series of contributions since 2012 that promote the hospital’s sustainability and longevity.

Major General Kamel Hamid concluded the visit by thanking CBH for responding to the Ministry of Health’s call and the local community’s needs to carry out COVID-19 testing services in its laboratories since the beginning of the pandemic in Bethlehem on 3/5/2020.
