Fr. Francesco Ielpo, Custos of the Holy Land, visited Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem today, as part of his ongoing visits to local Catholic institutions.
The Custos was welcomed by the hospital's Executive Committee and the Sisters of Charity who serve at the hospital. During the visit, Fr. Ielpo toured the hospital and spent time with young patients and their families. He also got a firsthand look at the Jubilee building for pediatric day surgery, set to be inaugurated later this year.
Speaking to those present, the Custos expressed his gratitude for the hospital's work and reflected on its mission of love and care for children, especially those most in need.
Founded in 1953, Caritas Baby Hospital remains the only pediatric hospital in the West Bank, serving tens of thousands of Palestinian children each year. Since 1978, the hospital has stood on land belonging to the Custody of the Holy Land, which has long supported its humanitarian mission.
