Patient Safety

As part of the Palestinian healthcare system, Caritas Baby Hospital aspires to be a center of excellence in pediatric healthcare, placing the well-being of children at the heart of everything we do. Parents and their children are central to all our decisions, and our services, facilities, and operations are designed to provide an exceptional patient experience and high-quality care.

For us, quality encompasses both excellent clinical outcomes and compassionate, patient-centered services throughout the continuum of care. Achieving this requires our team to deliver safe and effective treatment, a positive patient experience, and timely access to healthcare services. To ensure continuous improvement, we monitor key quality and infection prevention indicators, including hand hygiene compliance, accurate patient identification, medication safety, and screening for multidrug-resistant organisms upon admission.

Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework (PSFHF)

A cornerstone of our patient safety efforts is the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework (PSFHF). Since joining this initiative in 2013, Caritas Baby Hospital has worked diligently to create a safe environment for patients and their families, steadily establishing itself as a national leader in patient safety and quality improvement.

Following a comprehensive assessment conducted jointly by the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization in April 2026, Caritas Baby Hospital became the first hospital in Palestine to achieve Level 4 accreditation under the PSFHF—the highest level awarded to healthcare institutions demonstrating excellence in patient safety and quality of care.

This achievement reflects our commitment to minimizing medical errors through the implementation of internationally recognized safety protocols, reducing clinical and medication-related risks, and continuously strengthening our infrastructure, systems, and technology to provide a safe and infection-free healthcare environment.

Our Quality & Patient Safety Department leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures that promote a culture of safety, enhance the quality of care, and reduce the risk of harm to patients. Working in collaboration with all departments, the team ensures that patient safety remains embedded in every aspect of hospital operation.

At Caritas Baby Hospital, patient safety is a shared responsibility. Staff members actively contribute to the development and implementation of safety policies and are encouraged to identify and report adverse events, near misses, and potential risks in a transparent, non-punitive environment that supports learning and continuous improvement.

In line with our commitment to patient- and family-centered care, we view patient satisfaction as a key measure of our success. We empower patients and their families by respecting their dignity, responding to their needs, and involving them in decisions about their care. We foster open communication regarding adverse events and continuously seek feedback through regular surveys and questionnaires, using this input to improve our services and strengthen the patient experience.
