To celebrate the holiday season and the end of the year, the Department for Social Services initiated a series of recreational activities for patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and their families in the areas of Jourat Al-Shamaa, Doura and Al-Abidiya.
During the activities, which were attended by more than thirty- five children, symbolic gifts, medical essentials and performances by Santa Claus, during which the children interacted with joy.
On this activity, social worker Hiba Sadi stated: “We are trying to put a smile on the faces of children and their families in light of the difficult conditions that we are going through due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
EB is a genetic disease that is prevalent in societies where conjugal relationships are frequent due to the lack of proteins binding between the epidermis and the dermis. As a result of the absence of these links, recurrent skin lesions cause skin breakdown and separation of the skin components from each other causing the visible bubbles.
