Caritas Baby Hospital operates one of the most advanced medical laboratories in Palestine, and clinical decisions are based to a large extent on our laboratory testing.
The lab offers a wide range of diagnostic tests of infectious diseases to both our patients and external institutions and hospitals. The lab tests include detection of all common respiratory viruses like RSV, hMPV, parainfluenza viruses 1, 2, 3, adenoviruses and influenza viruses. It is also capable of performing molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases, such as rotavirus, enteroviruses, herpes simplex virus, EBV, CMV, parvovirus, q-fever, rickettsia and BKV.
Infectious diseases are among the dominant causes of morbidity and mortality in newborns and children. For many of them, the lab is operating the real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), which allows for an early and accurate diagnosis, paving the way for a timely and customized treatment for each patient.
The CBH lab is also a pioneer in the field of scientific research. The results of CBH’s scientific team are contributing to the national antimicrobial stewardship and immunization programs in Palestine.
