The Department of Social Services (DSS) at Caritas Baby Hospital aims to provide social and psychological support to patients and their families. This intervention is implemented through private sessions or support groups whereby several issues are addressed and experiences shared.
During the children’s stay at CBH, our social workers conduct rounds to meet with parents, particularly mothers, to discuss the challenges confronted by the family and offer solutions.
Furthermore, the DSS conducts hundreds of home visits on an annual basis with an aim to monitor the child’s living environment and provide appropriate professional advice to families.
Our team of social workers are also active in setting up and supervising various support groups. The latter include families of children suffering from chronic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus and epidermolysis bullosa, to name a few, to promote a healthier lifestyle for patients and provide them adequate social support services.
